Assess Risk Before Delivering Energy

Fitzpatrick skin type changes the safety margin

Darker phototypes, particularly Fitzpatrick types III–VI, have a greater risk of PIH and hypopigmentation after laser or IPL treatment. Conservative fluence, effective epidermal cooling, and test spots are especially important in these patients.
